Do You Keep Your New Years Resolution?

By Chris Drag

2010 is quickly coming to an end and it gives every one of us 2 things to consider.
#1 - we look back on 2010 and think about everything that happened, what we did and how we can improve.
#2 It gives us something to look forward to - 2011.
The one thing that MILLIONS of people do is create a new years resolution list - I won't lie, I make one too, however the one thing that nearly everyone forgets to do is simply - follow your list..
One of the best known resolutions is related to personal health. Personally
I feel that everyone says, I'm going to work out. I'm going to lose weight. I'm going to do this - that - etc. The sad thing is that most people wont follow through or will work out for a few weeks then call it quits. This is perfect for gym owners so get paid $XX each month - but bad for the person not utilizing his/her membership... Which brings me to my next point...
Make sure that you make REALISTIC resolutions! If you are going to make a new years resolution - make it something that is achievable and can be accomplished. For example, I usually make 2 lists. The first one focuses on PERSONAL goals, the second focuses on goals related to my hobbies such as my blog and online selling. I suggest you follow these short, easy to remember tips for creating a successful resolution list:
  • DONT just create a list of things that you never plan on doing.
  • Make short easy to remember goals that will benefit you AND will be accomplished.
  • Create a large list.
  • Spread out these goals over a year.
  • FOLLOW AND ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS!
Here are some of my personal goals that I WILL accomplish in 2011.
Go to the gym 2 times a week. Get to work 5 minutes earlier each day. Focus more time on building a better family relationship. Start looking for a house.
Purchase a premium theme for my blog. Create an email list on my blog. Join Twitter. Develop 2 more domains that are parked now.
Those are some of my goals that I will work towards accomplishing. Each goal can be measures and can be completed with some effort. Those are the goals you want!
I am really looking forward to comments! What are your new years resolutions? do you follow them? do you ever give up? what are some things you want to accomplish in 2011?

Setting Life Goals

By Tom Nehrenz

Life Goals. Have you set your life goals yet?
Setting life goals is a bit different than setting a short term personal goal like weight loss. Life goals require you to evaluate what you want from life, what you need, your hopes and dreams. They're long term. Though they may be long term, they must still be specific, attainable and measurable. They provide you with a roadmap to where you are going. So how do you go about setting life goals?
First, it's best if you get into the right frame of mind and environment to set your goals. As you plan your goals of life you will want to set aside time for yourself. Go someplace quiet with
a piece of paper where you can brainstorm without interruption. This might be in a quiet room or corner of your home. It might be somewhere outdoors in nature. One of my favorite places to work on my goals of life is on our annual family outing to the Trinity Alps in Northern California. The mountains, forest, rushing snow-melt river, and crisp air make for a relaxing, yet mentally-invigorating, environment to work on my goals.
To begin work on your goals, ask yourself what you want out of life. Where do you see yourself in three, five, ten, twenty-five years? How do you envision your family? Personal life? Career? Retirement? If you could do anything in the world, what would it be? Write down everything you think about. The answers to these initial questions will help you form your goals of life.
You can also divide those goals into sections. Have a goals of life for family, career, finances and personal achievement. Look at each goal individually and think about how you will get there. If your goals of life is to become a doctor, you will need to follow a specific educational path. If your goals of life is to retire to the mountains or the seashore, you are going to need varying levels of money. What steps can you begin to take to move you toward achieving your goals of life? Write them all down.
Whether you're working on short-term personal goals or long-term goals of life, of course you will want to make sure the goals you define are SMART goals. Specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound. What obstacles stand in your way? As you look at each life goal and the steps that will lead you on your way, what possible obstacles stand in your way? If your goals of life requires you to attend medical school, some obstacles may be money or passing medical exams. How will you tackle those obstacles? What tools do you need to be prepared? If your goals of life is to retire to Hawaii, what is standing in your way? Your current job? Do you need to go back to school in order to make more money or will promotions carry you through? How will you get those promotions? Life goal require a lot of planning so you must be ready for any potential road blocks that may stand in your way.
And lastly, who can you utilize to help you attain success once you set your life goal? You need to establish a support team to help your goals become reality. As a coach, I would steer you towards a specialized coach. If your life goal are career-oriented, find yourself a career or executive business coach who is skilled and successful in designing goals. Tap into their knowledge and let them guide and encourage you along the way. If your goals are personal, you can begin by sharing them with your friends and family. Some of them may even have the same life goal and you can encourage one another. You can also seek the services of someone skilled at Life Coaching. Choosing either route - using family and peers, or professions - having a strong support team is instrumental in making your life goals a reality.
Tom Nehrenz is a certified life coach and offers a complimentary coaching program to help individuals and small business owners define their goals and reach them faster, including executive business coaching, life coaching, business coaching and many more.

How to Make a Fresh Start in Life

By Clement Sadjere

Life can be sweet and enjoyable especially when everything is going according to plans. It can however turn sour with time when goals cannot be accomplished and family pressure keeps pushing us on all fronts. To some individuals, such unfavorable situations evoke a certain level of anger, anguish and eventually defeat.
When faced with apparent failure, defeat and mounting pressure, there are certain steps one can take to ensure a fresh start in the journey of life. These steps may not be easy to implement,
but they are solid platform upon which we can build back our broken foundations.
Forget about the past
When you have tried all the best to ensure you succeed in a given venture, and yet failure shows up unannounced, it can be so frustrating. To some, it is better they forget about trying and give up on that precious dream. The truth however, is that you cannot recover from your past failure when you keep looking back at the mistakes of yesterday. Yesterday has gone, and there are thousands of opportunities ahead of you waiting to be exploited. The sooner we realize the futility of looking behind and the need to look ahead, the better we become.
Failure is not final
One of the best way to ensure we get a fresh start to life after a major failure, is to realize that failure is not final. The fact that you have previously failed does not imply that you are a total failure. There are numerous examples of brilliant individuals who had false starts in life, but they picked up the pieces of their life and transformed their bitter experience into a success story. If you failed in achieving your set goals this year, there is always an opportunity to make an amend next year.
Make changes where to ensure a fresh start
Life is dynamic, and so we must be dynamic if we must succeed in whatever we do. After a major setback in life, it may be expedient that we analyze the cause of such failure and make necessary changes where applicable. It may be necessary for you to change environment or job to gain a better perspective of life.
When a football club with so much potential keeps performing poorly against the expectation of both management and fans, it sometimes results to drastic changes in the coaching crew. Underperforming players are sacked and better ones are recruited to give the club a fresh start.
Likewise, we must look inward and start making proactive changes in our life if ever we desire success. It may not be easy to implement, but its worth the pains. The road to success is after all not smooth, but bumpy and filled with lots of obstacles, which can be frustrating.

Staying Mobile - Replacing Your Cell Phone Battery

by: Eric Comforth

There are several cell phone replacement battery choices on the market, some better than others. Here we will explore a few of the options out there.
Basically, there are four different types of cell phone battery:
• Nickel Cadmium Batteries (NiCd): These are the oldest type of cell phone battery. To counter the problem of “memory effect” which lessens the life of the battery, they must be fully discharged before being recharged. This is obviously more time consuming and lessens the efficiency of the cell phone.
• Nickel Metal Hydride Batteries (NiMH): Developed in the 1990s.
These batteries are more efficient than the NiCd type. Although prone to some memory effect, they are quicker to recharge than the NiCd and have a battery life up to twice as long.
• Lithium Ion Batteries (Li-Ion): Lithium Ion Batteries are the most popular cell phone batteries today. They are lighter than the NiMH, do not suffer from memory effect and have a 30% longer life.
• Lithium Polymer Battery (Li-Poly): This is the newest cell phone battery technology on the market. Li-Poly batteries enable the most compact of cell phones and their lifespan is more than twice that of Lithium Ion batteries.
It is important that the battery you choose is compatible with your cell phone. This should always be the one recommended by the cell phone’s manufacturer and is the best way to ensure that both battery and phone are operating at their optimum performance level.
There have, unfortunately, been incidents where cell phones exploded and caused injury due to overheating and poor quality batteries. Many inferior quality batteries are, in fact, fraudulent copies of brand name cell phone batteries.
Companies such as Nokia, Samsung and Motorola are among the many brands that these cheap cell phone batteries have sought to copy.
Nokia, in its 2003 article entitled “Battery Safety – Issues and Prevention” discusses the growing market in fraudulent batteries. It notes thirty to forty battery explosions reported by Nokia customers. In each of these cases, the battery involved was found to be a non-original battery or fraudulent copy of a Nokia cell phone battery.
Nokia goes on to inform the reader of some signs to look out for when buying a replacement cell phone battery. Look at the label. Is it crooked? Are any words misspelled? Are the words: “Made in China” on the label? If the answer to any of these questions is “yes” the battery is almost certainly a forgery.
The safest way to purchase a replacement cell phone battery is to do so through the manufacturer or an authorised dealer. To do otherwise is to put yourself and, indeed, anyone else who may have access to your cell phone, at the mercy of an inferior battery with possibly dangerous consequences.
So, the time has come for your faithful Communications Assistant to get a new lease of life – or at least a replacement cell phone battery.
To keep the lines of communication open, choose wisely.

TradePub – Free Magazines & Trade Publications

by Jim Wang

I’ve mentioned TradePub a while back and how I get a whole bunch of trade publications from them (mostly programming, a few business magazines) and I wanted to mention them again. Basically you can go to their site (which is branded with my site’s look and feel), search around for various trade publications in the fields of everything from Engineering to Executive Management to Agriculture (I get a beverage business publication that’s pretty cool) and if you qualify then you get the magazine subscription for free. I think it’s a really easy way to learn about other businesses.

How to Get Money For a Non Running Car

By Eric Mitz

Many would assume that a car that is no longer running is not worth anything and that the best thing to do is to give it away or maybe donate it to an organization. This is not necessarily the case however; there are ways to get cash for junk cars, you just have to know the correct way to go about it.
One way to get cash for junk cars is to do most of the work yourself and then take the car to your local junk yard and sell it to them. If you are familiar with the inner workings of automobiles, this may be the way to go. The main things you need to do is to drain all gas, oil, coolant, and other
fluids from the car. Junk yards only take cars with four tires, so make sure you have removed the spare tire. Make sure that if the car is under 10 years old you have the title available to give to the junk yard. Arrange for transport to the junk yard and that is it.
If you are trying to get cash for junkers another option is to break it up into parts. You can then list some of the parts for sale on ebay or Craig's list. Make it easy on yourself and only accept bidders that are willing to come and pick up the items, unless they are small enough that you don't mind shipping them. A couple of other cash for junkers options are to recycle the catalytic converter at a scrap yard as this will bring in some cash and sell the tires if they are in good enough shape to do so.
There are many junk removal companies that you can contact if you do not want to do the work yourself. This way of getting cash for your junker requires you to have all the information ready- make, model, year, and title. You need to also be able to give the company an honest overall appraisal of the condition that the car is currently in. Next, pick a junk removal company; it can be local or national as you are going to be arranging for the towing service to come pick up the car for you and take it to the company. You may not get as much cash with this method as you are not doing most of the labor, but you will still be able to make some money.
You do not have to live with the eyesore of a non-working car cluttering up your driveway. There are ways that you can get rid of it and come out ahead with some extra money in the process.

Would a Battery Load Tester Be Any Use to Your Typical Car Owner?

By Geoffrey Wagner

If you have any equipment that is powered by an internal combustion engine, and if it isn't hand cranked like a lawn mower is, starting the engine is something you depend on a healthy battery for. Starting an engine in freezing cold weather especially, needs a battery that has plenty of juice. It can't be easy knowing that you need your vehicle to start smoothly in the morning when you have to get to work and to not know that the component that you depend on to help power that start is in good shape. That's where a battery load tester comes in. If that sounds like a complicated piece of equipment, the
utility it brings you is straightforward enough. It tells you how much more life your battery has left in it. It tells you how well your battery can respond to charging anymore.

A battery load tester is a device you basically use to test how healthy your batteries are. With a standard a lead acid battery, what you want is to test it for the kind of load that it is capable of handling. The battery load tester that you use needs to make it possible for you to change settings so that you only apply the right kind of load to a battery to test it. Go any higher than the kind of power your batteries can handle, and you could get into trouble with false positive readings. Look for tester that can apply a precisely calibrated load to a battery, that can make allowances for how hot or cool the battery is, and that can make accurate readings, without damaging your battery. What happens when you get a basic battery load tester that doesn't have any of these features? Some of the rudimentary models will only test a battery for the level of voltage it puts out - they don't even test for the kind of load the batteries are capable of taking. They'll go and give a pass rating to batteries that are just about ready to give up the ghost.

Most units that you get to buy today are tough enough for everyday use. Make sure that you get a battery load tester with plenty of range, and that it gives you the tools you need to make adjustments for the right kind of load, temperature and amperage levels. Try not to pick one that gives you a mere "Okay" or "Not Okay" reading, and leaves you with no choice but to trust what it says. You need readouts, and usually, an analog unit tends to be far more accurate party than a digital one.
